Is Solar Power Really Worth It?

November10

This is a question which receives a lot of debate by many people who think that solar power does not generate enough energy to be economically viable.

However, the truth is that solar power does generate energy. And if you are in a good location then you can benefit a great deal from solar panels and other related technologies.

One of the first things you need to consider is how much you’re willing to pay. If you are looking to solar power as a long-term investment, then it is important to first calculate what you would be paying every month for your electricity bill. Then multiply by ten years for example.

A good solar solution does cost more initially due to the equipment required, however on-going costs are minimal, and it is important to remember that it does also add to the resale value of your property.

Also be aware that your location as mentioned before is very important. If you don’t live in a sunny location then the panels will still work, but they will not be as effective and it will take a significant amount of time for the panels to pay for themselves.

When utilizing solar power, it is important to realize that you need to take advantage of other energy-saving technologies. For example, if your home was using passive solar heating technology uses a significant amount on energy bills. Also, it is important to consider insulation in order to ensure your heating systems are energy efficient.

However for many people, solar power is not about saving money is about reducing our impact on the environment so that the world is still here for generations to come. Whilst some might argue solar power is not financially efficient. It perhaps is morally right and responsibility to try and save our planet.

We All Live in a Solar Powered World

July18

The word “Solar” comes from the Latin word “Solaris” which means “of the sun”. In this article we are going to talk a little about solar power, and the many different ways to harness it.

Light is a renewable energy source, it comes from the Sun, and it cannot be depleted. It is clean, economical and highly efficient. It can be harnessed almost anywhere and is a truly mobile technology.

There are numerous ways to generate electricity from solar power. The popular way is through photovoltaic cells which are commonly known as solar panels. Solar panels are made up of conductors, which react to the sun’s light. This effect is known as the photoelectric effect.

One of the many other ways in which one can generate electricity from solar power is through steam. This usually involves lenses and mirrors to concentrate solar energy on water which forces water to heat and boil, witch will power a traditional steam engine.

These are the most common ways to generate solar energy. There are ways to adapt this technology more effective such as using lenses to concentrate on sun’s light of the specific area of photovoltaic cells, and the modern technology. There have been many innovations in glazing which in turn, ensure our buildings will be solar efficient in future.

As you can see there are many different ways to adapt solar panels. There are so many different ways to use it. Some govenments use solar energy to power anything from bus stations to cars and boats. People are only starting to realise how useful this amazing technology is and it will be only a matter of time before we see it implemented almost anywhere it is supported.
